I think I see a small nick in the corner of that building. It'll need to be renovated - completely. I'm sure.
Gods, but can't you feel that flying down the autobahn. Form follows function, for sure. (Aesthetics are cool, too, and sometimes trump form, but form generally rules in my mind.)

I just love anything designed or co-designed by Sacco.

Yeah, it'll fly; it has the best low-end torque there is. The series 220 has high levels of both form and function. Understated MB beauty meets modern computer-design. They have a Cd of about .27, from a vehicle finalized in 1997. The modern BMW i8s have a Cd of .26.

Stop posting W220s, I'm actually thinking about getting one.
The only problem is that, as everyone knows, they are not the cheapest cars to repair and maintain. So if you wanna make sure that you get the best value (as in reliability and performance) for your money, the range is extremely limited:
You only want the S500 because the V6s are underpowered for a car of this class, the V12s and AMGs are unnecessarily complicated/expensive to maintain and/or do not add much to the performance, the S430 is basically a S500 that is slower for exactly the same money. You do want the facelift because many quality issues were solved by then, interior materials are better, lights look more modern and the navigation system doesn't look like it from 1989. You don't want one with ABC because the extra costs for maintenance outweigh any questionable benefit you might get from having it. You don't want Awd because its pointless if you got a good set of winter tires, its only adding weight and complexity for barely any benefit. You don't want the 7-speed auto because it was extremely unreliable in its first few years in production.
That only leaves you with a RWD S500 with airmatic suspension that was build in the few months between mid 2002 and whenever the 7G auto was installed in 2003. If you want to buy a W220 S-class, this is the one to go for.

I don't agree with most of what you've said, but that's your opinion. I've had experience with 220s for well over a decade now. Mine is a 2000 model-year S430. I drive it for a reason; there are many, actually.

You need to share your experiences with oppo then. There are too many horror stories about them out there.

I just think it's interesting how you think you know all these little facts about them based on peoples' stories. Most idiots out there just get pissed because they bought one for cheap and go on expecting they don't have to be involved with anything. Once you get to know these platforms very well, you are able to care for them in ways the normal non-involved owners are. I had a Lincoln years ago of which the parts were more expensive than these ever were.
